Hello friends,
My name is O. C. Mogounn. I am an art and history enthusiast. This is my story. The Journey began with a trip to Walmart. While I went to Walmart with the intention of groceries shopping, like most moms, I ended up wandering about in the kids' clothing section. My eyes lit up when I saw a set of beautiful Disney princess t-shirt dresses. I immediately considered purchasing a pair for my two daughters. I felt a pang of sadness as I went through the t-shirts one by one, realizing there were none with a black princess. On my way home, I kept reflecting on the clothes, wishing I had found one with a black princess. Then, as soon as I arrived home, I thought to myself, "If I cannot find princesses that look like my girls, why not create them?" This is how, on this very day, I embarked on a project I initially called Barbuzaar. Inspired by the stories of Africa's female monarchs, I came out with a book I titled " BEDTIME TALES OF AFRICAN QUEENS WHO SLAYED HISTORY".
Little did I know the impact this book would have. Just a few days after its release, I heard this from parents. " What about my boys?" "When are you releasing one about African kings?" And the next was "what about the great African kingdoms, mythology, and more”. To cut the long story short, my readers encouraged me to embark on another project, which consist of ; releasing a series of children's books focused on African/black hidden heroes: queens, kings, kingdoms, civilizations, mythology, scientists, inventors and more. My hope is that every child will be inspired to learn about these wonderful black historical icons.
I am also working on an animated series titled "Tales of Barbuzaar" available on youtube. A series focused on exploring black folktales, fables, heroes and more!
If you've made it this far, I'd like to express my heartfelt gratitude, hoping that this is only the beginning of our relationship. The best way for us to remain connected is to follow us on Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook. Thank you so much for your time, and we are excited for the journey ahead.
God bless!
